Most of trail is on a railroad track. A still, cool and deep stretch of river, its located in a deep oxbow gorge where the San Lorenzo makes a sweeping left turn around an island and hits a ridge. The mountain spring water stays pretty cool year-round, making it the perfect destination on a hot Santa Cruz Mountains summer day. The San Lorenzo river is NOT cross able. Very adventurous! This trail features a giant swimming hole for hot days and a couple of river crossings. Skinny Dip Falls. Hopefully it opens back up soon! The trail is being worked on once you get on the railroad track. Didnt do the full trail because people I went with are lame as heck. Garden of Eden is the perfect Northern California adventure! You can wade through riffles, swim in its one or two deeper holes, or nap the afternoon away. Its about one mile downstream from Candy Rock. We went off trail several times and added an extra couple of hours. There are redwoods very close to the trail and a good portion is alongside the creek. On a hot summer day, is there anything quite so sublime as a dunk in a wild river? Wade into its cool and languid waters, where flow is slowed by small boulders.
